The Journey to Jogging (+ Members Run Club)
If any of you know me, you'll know that I love running.
I started my own free community running group Inner West Joggers in 2012 which grew to 300+ members at it's peak when I was leading 4+ runs weekly. I took the group on bush retreats with yoga and trail runs, we explored Sydney festivals on foot and we did countless fun runs. I had a fun stint with my own business Run This Way leading sightseeing running tours around Sydney's iconic sights. I was a St Peters parkrun co-director for 2 years and I loved volunteering with those guys.
But despite all this, I'm not fast, nor manage giant distances, nor have ever ran a marathon - I'm just an average recreational jogger. I discovered the power of running when by default I used it as self-medication for my anxiety, something I've struggled with my entire life but which hit it's peak living abroad in 2010. But what keeps me coming back to running is my jogging community, the mental clarity I thrive on and just because it feels good in my body. My lungs like it.
You don't have to be fast or have a certain body type or have endurance or have all the coolest running gear to run. You can go fast or slow. Run for miles or just one. You might not love it. But you might find something powerful in it, like I did.
I invite members to join me for a weekly casual, friendly, cruisey jog around the beautiful bay. No pressure, no speeds to beat, no distances to cover. Jog together or take off at your own pace. You choose your pace & distance. We'll simply meet at 6am, warmup together, spend up to 35 mins on the path and be back to meet for a team stretch at the end.
